What noise does the AC make when it is getting ready to die? S70 1998

The AC is making strange noises. It is a dry, raspy noise that goes away when driving above 20 miles an hour or when the AC is turned off. Anyone have an idea what noise is heard when the evaporator (or other AC components) make when it is getting ready to die?
