Re: Fading Silver /Pewter Color 850 1995

Ching-ho,

I think the problem relates to the type of paint and the mix that the application used. Silver is a problem on many cans, as are most metalic colors. I recently sold a silver 1990 Mazda 626 to get the Volvo, it had no problems with fading. My issue is that a Volvo should have excelleent paint that lasts and retains it's color and uniformity, not average paint that fades and dulls. I have had this car a few months and have applied several coats of NuFinish polish. This is good stuff that protects the paint, but is not helping the top of the 850. My 850 is also garaged most of the time when home. BTW my roof strips are in fine shape. Interestingly enough my '87 240DL is a light silver/green metalic color and is the original paint. It has no problems either.
