Water under the rug - Driver's Seat - Source? 850 1996

Hello All,

I have a `996 850 GLT wagon, 5 speed manual, with 250,000. About 6 weeks ago I had the heater core replaced. Following the replacement of the heater core, the rug area under the pedals where the coolant previously collected dried out. About two weeks ago, I noticed the rug area under the clutch and brakes pedals was wet/damp again. However, there wasn't a green color or film residue to the dampness normally associated with coolant. Instead, the dampness seems to be caused by ordinary water. Assuming the replacement heater core hasn't gone bad, does any one have an idea how water is getting into this area?

Thanks to all who reply.

Hugh
