Infamous Low Coolant Problem V70-XC70 2001

As most of you know by now, the temps in the North East were bitterly cold today. As I started the XC this morning the message centre flashed up a low coolant warning. It then told me to turn off the engine and check the level. I decided to temporarily throw caution to the wind (as it was 0 F outside) and simply turn it off and restart. Same result. Low coolant. As I put it into gear is then told me to pull over ASAP and check it. By the time I had reached the end of my very slightly graded driveway the message was gone. Sound familiar to any of you S80 drivers out there??
