Electronic Throttle Module "Recall' (surging, power loss, limp mode)

If you are experiencing engine surging, messages related to "Engine Service," "Reduced Power," or have entered a limp-home mode, you should look into a NHTSB Campaign #06V441000 that relates to defective ETMs (made my Marelli in Italy) that are reported to have a 94% failure rate by 100,000mi.

Volvo has a silent warranty extention to 10yrs and 200k miles, but only if you KNOW about the extension, and INSIST on using it.

Otherwise, it's an $800+ part and $300-600 labor to R&R on your nickel.

About 360,000 Volvos are involved, and covers new software, and a new ETM if it has a fault.

It's been in effect for several years, but it seems few people are aware of it.
