Funny you should mention the Audi 5cyl. I know someone with a late 80's 5cyl Audi engine and I was struck by the similarities (and a crucial difference, the Volvo is transverse mounted, the Audi is not). Nice to claim a bit of Porsche DNA under the Volvo hood. But the Volvo edition is a far better performer if the sledlike acceleration of my friend's Audi - any of his Audis - are an indication.
