Position Light redux V70-XC70 2001

I have had recurring position light messages on the dash for most of the time I have had this car.
I posted about it once and finally found what they were talking about - the uppermost bulb in the lower taillight section.
I took out the socket and replaced the bulb and it was fine for about a week and then I got the light on the dash again.
I checked it and the bulb was fine so I bent the contacts up in the socket and put it back in.
Seemed to be OK for a while but now it comes on whenever the temp gets down in the 20s F.
Goes off when it warms up. Should I bend the spring contacts around the outside edge out a bit to make a
more positive contact?
