HELP! Broken lower rear shock stud. 850

My 96 855 needed new springs after 250,000 miles. Not bad. The right side went smoothly. There was a nut with a closed end on that side to protect the lower shock stud from rusting. On the driver's side, the mechanic who last changed the shocks used an open nut and it rusted tight to the stud. Had been sprayed with PB Blaster. Broke off inspite of that. Am I totally SOL? Does this mean a new rear control arm? Is there a stud replacement once the original is drilled out?

Many thanks in advance,

Perry
