noisy lifters suspected 850 1996

Hi gang!
I need your help before I get elbow deep in this engine.
I have a 96 855R with manual transmission.
302,000kms. I'm the 2nd owner and the car has always used Mobil 1 10w30 oil.
In the past at start-up when cold the lifters ticked for a minute then all was well but recently, when cold no sound at all but as water temp registers on gauge I'm getting a steady lifter ticking between 2000 and 3000 rpm. A slight increase in rpm makes the sound go away. I hooked up an external oil pressure gauge and it read as follows when engine was running at normal temp:
4000rpm=75psi
3000rpm=62psi
2500rpm 54psi
900rpm=24psi
I figure the oil pan O-rings are good and have ordered all new tappets from fcpgroton but would welcome input from you all before I dig into this engine.
P.S. I added some lucas oil thickener as a quick test and no change at all.
Thanks folks and sorry for the long post, there wasn't anything similar in the archives.
Klaus
