Removing XM radio V70-XC70 2001

I just bought a 01 XC. Someone had installed an XM radio in it, and there's a little magnetic antenna on the back of the vehicle. The unit itself is loose and just flopping around on the console.

All I know about XM radio is that I don't want it. What happens if I just snip the wires, tuck them back under the molding and throw the unit and the antennae away?

Will there be any electronic consequences?

Thanks Much for any suggestions.....
