Can't fill gas tank V70-XC70 1999

I recently purchased a 1999 V70 w/97k miles. when I open the gas tank there is a vacum noise and then I cannot put more than 1 gal of gas in it before the gas begins to come back out even thought the gauage eads almost empty.
