driver's side wiper post - stripped threads 850 1994

The threads in the hole in the wiper arm were completely stripped, and tightening the nut down didn't give me wiping anymore, so I ordered a new arm. However, the threads on the post are partially stripped, and I fear the new one won't hold when it arrives, or possibly even the threads on the new arm may get worn down by the worn post.

What is involved on the driver's side ? Does the entire wiper transmission frame have to be changed in order to just get a newly threaded post to sit the wiper arm down onto ??

If YES - must have been designed by the same Swedish idiot that designed the trans fluid dipstick in the '95 960 - you can reach it easuky -- with a 2-foot-long 3/8" wrench extension. Go figure.....
