Broken Top Front Strut Mount S80

I have a 2000 model year S-80 sedan, and it has broken top front strut mounts. I checked the archives, and there are posts about how they break, and how much the dealer charges for repairs, etc. Mine were repaired at 28K miles under warranty, and the problem is back at 104K miles.

Are there any other options than running to the dealer? I suppose a DIY fix involves removal of the struts, which means a lot of work in taking apart the front suspension, but are there any shortcuts that anyone is aware of?
