850 turbo 1996 OBDII cannot read codes... 850

Hi all.

Since I got my car one year and a half ago, I never succeeded to read the codes from my OBDII port.

First of all,. I thaught my reader was the problem, but it works on my parents cars (VW passat 2000 and Audi S4 2000) and my friend car (Fors contour SVT)

I then probed the wires running from the OBDII connector and the injection brain (motronic 4.3 i think)
continuity read from OBD pin 3 and motronic pin 5
continuity read from OBD pin 7 and motronic pin 36

all grounds are ok
power line (OBD pin 16) is ok

I plugged the reader and tried to link to the computer, and voltage at motronic computer connector fluctuates at pin 36 and 5 (so from the reader to the motronic connector, wires and connectors are good)

Finally, I think that with all those tests, everything should be ok excluding the motronic ecu...

does 1996 850s are prone to OBDII problems? Did you guys ever heard of that sort of problem?
Do I have an ECU configured for the old fashion diagnostic box with the wire and the little leds (that type of box is not installed in my engine bay, I checked) but woth the OBDII connector and wiring installed?

thanks to all! have a great day.

JP
