S70 a/c lights flashing S70

Hi Dave,

A generic OBDII scanner may not do the trick. Due to the fact that OBDII is only required to standardize fault codes for the powertrain and emissions systems, climate control codes are not part of OBDII. It wouldn't hurt to give it a try, but I'd be willing to bet that you're unable to communicate with the climate control with it. On a 1998 model, the Volvo System Tester (VST) is used for all vehicle communication (1999 and up uses Volvo's "VIDA" system). Anyway, it may not hurt anything to let it go for a while. Who knows, it may solve itself (not that I'm implying that there is no fault, but it may stop flashing). The A/C off and recirc lights on my wife's 1995 850 flash sometimes, but mostly they do not (and all is well; just a sporadic code for the cabin temp sensor, in her case). Anyway, if you can, have it checked out. If not right away, it's likely not a matter of life or death.

I hope this helps...
