Lock pushes down but door does not lock S70

Can anyone help me with this one? I have a '99 s70 glt volvo and when i push down (or do it with remote) the lock, the door still opens. it only happens on the front passenger door. every other door works fine. so alarm goes off since it is locked but the door is still opening? any ideas? thanks!
