Purchasing a XC70 V70-XC70

Hi,
I am pondering buying a XC70. One is 1998 with 64K miles and the other is a 2000 with 94K on it. From reading the consumer reports reviews it seems that the 1998 did not rate very well with the engine, electrical, brakes, and body hardware. It also mentioned the ride in the XC's are not that smooth. So I am wondering about people's opinions on these cars, which one they would suggest, and is it really expensive to repair them.
