Intermittent alternator/battery idiot light 1996

I have a 1996 850 wagon (non-turbo). I'm getting the alternator/battery idiot light for a second or two when accelerating, around 2000 or 2500 RPM. A friend thought it was the alternator going out, so I replaced the alternator with an aftermarket one. Many hours and $200 later, I'm still getting the light.

This was after the guy at the parts store "checked" the alternator, and said I was only getting 20 amps or so out of it. The car starts & runs fine, but the light worries me a bit. I cleaned the battery terminals & connectors when I was replacing the alternator.

Who knows what's going on with this?

Thanks in advance!
Kevin Bauer
