How come the 5-cyl intake runners changed from the 950 to the 70 series?

The 850 turbo has one of the nicest "presentations" when the hood is popped. You see those 5 beautiful aluminum intake tubes gracefully leading to each intake port on the cylinder head. The 70 series, including C70, V70 and the XC90 use what looks like a "truck version" of this intake manifold, and it couldn't flow as well as the one in the 850.

Why did they do this?
