I replaced the PNP a 1.5 yrs ago and all was well until in the past couple months the transmission started shifting will force (sometimes a cringing kunk--the one where you feel the tranny will drop off the car) as opposed to smoothly. I have the PNP code and plan on replacing the PNP again (think I got a defective part), but I wonder if the tranny needs a good flush in addition to the PNP replacement.
I have been going back and forth on the flush based on what I have read here. I bought the car ('94 850 Wagon) at 75000 miles and haven't changed the fluid yet (now had 125K). I normally would have done this yearly, but have been swayed by numerous threads on this site.
After a thorough scrup of the site, I get the feeling I should have been flushing the tranny on a regular basis (hope it's not too late or that it won't cause more problems).
I am looking for advice on a complete flush and PNP replacement or just one of the two. I realize the flush will only take an hour, but am looking for opinions. The PNP is easy, but more costly and I am trying to save the time if I don't need to do both.
Thanks for any advice you can provide.
