Hi,
The car is a 1999 V40 with ECC.
In cold weather the ECC works fine in that it warms the car to the selected temperature and holds it.
In warm weather the ‘cooling effort’ seems to reduce too soon. For example in a hot car say 30 C or above and 18 C selected on the ECC initially the fan will come on full, the chill works OK with an exit temp at the vents of about 8 C to 10 C, but the fan speed starts to drop with the temperature still in the high twenties. The effect is that the temperature never gets near to that selected, instead holding some 9 C or 10 C too high!!
If I override the fan and put it on full then cab temperature does reduce but then I am effectively using it as Air Con not ECC.
I know that I am going to need to get this tested professionally but before I part with my cash can anyone suggest what might be wrong and if its likely to be costly? At the end of the day I may settle for it as it is!
Regards.
Roger.
