howling in position one S70

Hello, This is a first post. My 2000 S70 started to make a howling/wining noise the other day. I have located it up front at the front right corner of engine. When you turn the ignition to position one which runs a few features, this horrible noise starts. Sounds like a bearing going out in whatever motor runs while the ignition is in this position. Also continues while car is running. ANy idea what this is? I wish I knew more about cars!
