What adhesive for windshield? 850 1995

I have read that the windshield on an 850 is a structural part of the car. Just recently this was posted for early 850s.

My daughter is having the windshield replaced on her '95 854 base (no sunroof). The technician claims that that year and model DO NOT need hot sealant for a better hold.

Anyone out in brickland know what the story is?
