Replacing S40 Antenna........ S40-V40 2000

During our last -24 below zero Vermont artic blast, my antenna got frozen and wouldn't go down, and as would have it my wife and I went into Burlington to do some shoping AND some idiot broke my antenna, plus a few others ^%#Q*^&%Q*&%!! So, whats it going to cost me, and can I do it myself???? I am thinking of just replacing it with just a good old whip antenna.........maybe, Bill. Other than that I'm just shy of 90k and the car runs like new!
