Salty Antennae 850

It's winter time and salt is everywhere. Even my antennae had salt deposits all over it. I noticed that the antennae motor was having trouble retracting the antennae all the way in. So i thought that i would try to clean it and grease it. I wiped clean the antennae with some degreaser that i use for my mountain bicycle chain. I then wiped some bike chain lubricant on the antennae. Voila! it worked. The antennae retracted smoothly. I did this this morning. I probably should have posed this question before applying these chemicals to my antennae, but, What do you think? was it a good idea? or not?
