Re 1993 850, auto.
I need to change my Solenoid #1 on the transmission. Resistance is 43ohms instead of 15 and the thing barely operates.
The manual says to remove the oil pan, but tells me nothing else!
Questions:
a. Do I have to drain the fluid and remove the oil pan [the one on the transmission facing the front bumper bar]?
b. Do I need a gasket when replacing this oil pan [assuming I need to take it out]?
c. It appears there is internal wiring under the transmission housing to the solenoid and I guess there is a remote chance this is damaged; anyone had any experience with these solenoids and the harness?
d. Any idea how many hours the job will take?
e. My transmission was replaced [under warranty] in 1997 {yes after the 3 years had expired}. It came with a much later ECU. I note from the manual that the 1997 spec for the solenoid resistance was 15-18ohms rather than 10-15ohms in 1993. Does anyone know if they changed the solenoids or just the specification of the resistance to provide a bit more tolerance?
Any and all answers much appreciated!
Dave
