We recently purchased a '97 850 R wagon, absolutely love it! even more than our former '94 850 Turbo wagson.
We took it to a volvo dealer to have it checked out, big mistake since I don't think they actually checked anything. They replaced the wiring harness for the heated seats, they claim there was a recall, since they replaced it, NO HEAT!!! I called the service dept, they say its got a thermostat that prevents it from working at warm temps, tried it this morning, the temperature was 45 outside, NO HEAT still!!
Taking it back in 5 days but wondered if anyone had heard of a recall on the heated seat wiring harness or if the dealer was full of crap. We know he was full of some crap since he said the brake pads were at a minimal, bought new ones to put on, private brake shop says they're as good as new, saw them myself. We're holding on to the pads for later.
We're also having problems with the middle seat belt in the rear. It won't extract at all, we've jiggled and pulled and pushed, fast and slow, and coaxed and prodded. Any advice out there? Dealer says $115 for new tensioner but how do you even access it?
Love the site,
Love my brick,
