oil consumption V70-XC70

I have a 1998 V70 with the standard 5 cylinder engine. The car has just over 50,000 miles on it and has all of a sudden staarted consuming oil at the rate of approx. 1 quart / 1,000 miles. There are no signs of any leaks or that it is burning oil. Is anyone aware of any warranty issues or recalls that might pertain to something like I'm experiencing?
