'GEAR SELECTOR REDUCED FUNCTION' - HELP!!!! S80

Hi,
This is the error message that I got today in my 2000 S80 T6. It says "Gear selector reduced function". Basically, it is driving normally (shifting 1-4 fine), but it does not allow me to put it into "W" (winter) mode, or use the gear-tronic. Any input on what it may be? Any help is appreciated, Volvo says that it should be fine to drive on until my appointment (9-15), please let me know if anyone thinks otherwise.
