I did the unthinkable and disconnected the two hoses attached to the flame trap on my '94 850 while performing cleaning/replacement. The engine starts and runs fine now, no more excessive crankcase pressure forcing oil out the filler cap. However, I now have a check engine light. I have used the on-board diagnostics to check for fault codes. Nothing comes up. Next I performed the service light reset (4-1-5-1) procedure. Light is still there.
Any suggestions on what I should do next? What is (was) the negative impact of disconnecting the hoses? Will I need a dealer to reset/correct something for me?
