For the manual-transmissioned 850, does anyone know how the shift knob comes off.

The "leather" boot on my shifter needs replacing and the knob, which one would think just threads-off, is on rock solid. It's on so tight that it almost appears like it is not a threaded-on it.

Does anyone know how this comes off?
