My Check Engine light has been on for some time now on my '94 850 Turbo, and the diagnostics (LED) tell me it's the Evap System. The dealer read the same code some time ago and wanted to sell me a new canister "kit". On a separate call, the parts guys tell me they only sell canisters if there is crash damage to one. I dremel'ed mine open, replaced the activated carbon (although there was no fuel-saturated smell), sealed it again and reset the light. Within 2 drive cycles, the light was back on (same code - evap system). The gas cap has been replaced and I always turn it on securely (several clicks). I understand that it could be a vacuum leak or some other fault in the hoses and fittings involved in the flow of evap vapours. Does anyone have similar experience that could help me focus on where to look next?
Thanks. This is my first message on the 'Board. Great forum. It's nice to see owners who get involved.
