My wife complained to me recently that the wipers on the 855T weren't working properly. Well, it was the old "wiper arm bending by itself" problem.
I haven't checked recently, but it's probably $65 and I would rather Volvo replace this under a recall. Considering that this wouldn't pass an Ontario safety check, it's clearly a safety item. Considering it isn't a normal wear item and it fails frequently I consider it a subject for a recall. Adding to the concern is the fact that Volvo doesn't indicate if they've re-engineered the part to prevent failing again.
So - beginning today, I suggest that we contact Transport Canada and report this issue. Here is the contact info. http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/tp/tp2822/en/page4_e.htm
They indicate a phone call is preferred, however I suggest that we email (there is that option) and you all copy me at pnielsen@passport.ca so that nobody can claim that there are only a few complainants. I'll keep a total and post it here at the end of October. Frankly, if 3 of you complain it'll never get resolved. If 50 of you complain, we'll get some action.
Don't forget to include:
- Vehicle make, model and year.
- Owner’s name, address and daytime phone number.
- The Vehicle Identification Number "VIN" (serial number).
If we're successful with this, we'll take on the air conditioning evaporator. I consider this a safety item from the perspective of driver and passenger exposure to R134A in small by constant amounts. Add the effect on the environment and we've got a case.
cheer all and I look forward to the emails.
