POWER SEAT REPAIR 850 1994

I made the error of forcing the seatback on my power seat. It is now stuck more or less in one position. Other directions (forward/back, tilt up/down) are fine. I have already had the seat apart once, and just loosened and realigned the cable and mounting hardware. Nothing "broken". The seat worked for about one week. Now back to square one. Question: 1)Suggestions on repair?? 2)Can a power seat be converted to a manual seat??
I really don't want to pay a few hundred $$ for either repair at Volvo, or buy a new one (ouch!) Any suggestions welcome.
