Keyless Remote S70 1999

Just bought a 99 s70, and I love it.

It came with the factory keyless remote, but it doesn't work. 'Replaced the battery in remote, no dice. I've read in the forums that several have had to have the receiver replaced, so it seems a real possibility that the receiver could have died. Short of taking it to the dealer, where do I start troubleshooting it?
