radiator obstruction by plastic sheet 850 1994

Question ...

My 850 turbo 1994 has a curved plastic sheet coming from the seam where the fender and lower spoiler join, curving upwards on the inside of the engine compartment. It seems strange to me, as it does not appear to perform any useful function, but does obstruct about 30% of the radiator cooling fines. Do all 850's have these? Is there an advabntage to removing it?
