How do you secure the “PRND21” plastic display? V70-XC70 1999

Hello All,

I have a 1999 V70 AWD XC with 185,000 miles. Recently the plastic display in the gearshift panel (PRND12) which shows which gear you are in as you shift the lever forward or backward and you advance the red/orange colored indicator that stops at each “Letter” has come loose. It has shifted to one side and is now crooked. I know from a SwedeSpeed posting how to remove the plastic console to expose the gear shifter, but am asking now, if anyone has any experience securing this “gear shift” panel once it is loose. Do you “glue it in place”? Can you glue it in place? Or do you have to replace a component?

I can still drive the car “as is” but it is distraction that the gear shift indicator no longer lines up with the letters that comprise the gear shift pattern. Thank you in advance to all who respond.

Hugh
