Won't engage into drive easily after engine mount replacements... S70 1998

All,

I just performed a lot of work on my wife's 1998 S70 at 145k miles.

Here is the list:
- Rear Shocks,
- Front Struts (everything replaced),
- Front control arms,
- Front and Rear engine mounts,
- Right side engine mount,
- Front Rotors and Pads.

So during the rear engine mount replacement I had jack the transmission up very high and still couldn't get the old mount out and therefore had to remove the bracket that mounts to the transmission.

Upon starting up today I noticed that it seemed to shift hard from N to D. When I stepped on the gas, nothing but engine revving. I found that if I slammed, and that is a harsh statement, the shifter from N to D that it would engage and work just fine.

So my question is what have I possibly done to make the transmission and/or transmission cable not engage properly and is there possibly an adjustment that I can make to the cable to regain smooth operation.

Thanks in advance

Matt
