loose timing belt / Possible dead engine? V70-XC70 1999

My sons car which I maintain is a 1999 v70 with 207K miles. The timing belt was replaced by a reliable shop at 157K miles. My son was driving to work and noticed the car was losing some power. He continued to work about another mile and parked the car. When he tried to start it after work it would not start. When I started troubleshooting I found that the timing belt loose, loose enough that it i could jump teeth. I am hoping that maybe we got lucky and all that happened was that the belt jumped a tooth or two and got the engine out of time. IF you know of a good belt replacement procedure please kick me that way.

Thanks
