I have just purchased a 2004 v70 2.5t w/114k miles from a private party. The complete 105K miles rune up was done and the car seemed fine. I took the car to a independent garage for a per-purchase inspection they found nothing that would indicate a problem. The car appeared to be a good buy. The car ran strong everything worked. They did check for codes. I trusted the previous owner, so I purchased the car. I parked in the garage for 30 days while we were out of town. Once back in town we filled the car with gas and the next day it started to stumble upon acceleration and would occasionally stall completely. After a day of this I took the car back to the garage where the per-purchase inspection was done and asked them to investigate. They said failed fuel pump control module. Parts and labor came to just under $1000.
That is more money than I am willing to pay. I believe that the troubleshooting that they did to located the problem was good. Is replacing this module simple enough. I have been working 240's for 20 years but am new to the front wheel drive.
Any help would be appreciated.
