contemplating a new Volvo S40-V40

I am contemplating buying a new Volvo. I drove a used V40 and it went like mad. I really liked it but it was an automatic so I decided to try to find a standard. I like the size & look of the v40 but I have not been able to find one with a standard transmission in Canada. Does anyone know if there is a standard available in Canada? Also, what are your opinions of the v40? (good point, bad points)
