front impact airbag sensor? S40-V40

Still related to my previous posting the SRS light on was diagnosed as a fault on the airbag sensor left side. My mechanic says that there is a front impact airbag sensor...left and right side. I'm not so convinced about it. I think there is a central module under center console and there are sensors on right and left side on B and C pilars for the side impact airbags. Is he right? Am I right? Klaus on anybody else can you help? Tks
