My daughter had the lower radiator hose on her 1998 XC70 replaced. 100 miles later the trans oil cooler line popped out of the fitting above the lower radiator hose. My guess is the metal clip that retains the oil cooler line was disturbed during the radiator hose install and the fitting eventually popped loose.
The car is sitting in a parking lot about 80 miles away with a puddle of trans fluid under it. I looked at it late last night, working from above I could barely get my hand on the fitting and couldnt push it back in.
What has to be removed to get sufficient access to the fitting ? Should I be able to re-install it from above ? Any details or advice is appreciated.
The engine was idling for 10-15 minutes after the fluid loss while my daughter called me (car wouldnt move). How likely is it that the transmission was damaged since the input shaft was turning but the internal hydraulic pump was running dry ?
Thanks,
Mike
