I dont know if this is a tranny problem or whether it may be something else,but it seems to be getting worse. my car surges, upshifts and downshifts while driving normal city streets and also on the freeway. Its as though the thing is fuel starved and running out of gas. today while slowing for a stop light it revved up by itself and then downshifted. when accelerating to leave the car hesitated then took off. It appears the car wants to stall but doesnt because i step on the gas pedal. there is no "slipping" of the tranny, but upshift and downshift while going at a steady speed. One more question: I keep reading about codes ie, 1-1-1, 3-2-2, etc. Is there a special tool or devise needed to read these codes and where can i get this devise, also i keep reading about clearing codes. How do you clear these codes? any help will be appreaciated.
