Update...Took the MAP sensor off on Wednesday of last week. It was really dirty. I gave it a good cleaning and reset the code..check engine light. As of this morning the light had stayed off, so I assumed that was taken care of. Never fails, on the way home from church the check engine light is back on. I ran nearly 200 miles before it came back on.
Now I am assuming that it is back on b/c of the MAP--barometric pressure sensor. I haven't pulled the code yet. Assuming that is what it is, what next? I've read a couple of places that you can test the sensor by hooking it to a tester, other places it has said something about blowing into it and listen for a certain sound. Anyone have any experience with this?
Also assuming that the sensor is bad, I get a new one. If the sensor is good, what do I check next if I'm getting this code for check engine light? Also, I have read on here that the MAP sensor can really mess with gas mileage. I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary. Is this something that I can take my time about fixing....something that wont damage the life of my car? Thnaks ahead
