FYI, just flushed my transmission yesterday. ATF looked a little brown and smelled a little strong...not nose curling burnt but a little smelly. Anyhow, car has 55k on it so I decided to change fluid as precaution..was very easy as follows.
1. Drain fluid through plug.
2. Refill with new fluid
3. remove clod air intake (plastic "hose") for clearence
4. carefully pull wiring harness pin connector off of cleat for clearance
5. using snap ring pliers, carefully open up clip and slide back onto upper transmission cooling hose barb.
6. Pull the hose away from the radiator, do not damage O ring.
7. plug the hole. I used a small rubber stopper.
8. slip a section of 1/2" heater hose over the transmission cooling hose end(fits nice and snug). Place the other end in an oil drain pan or bucket in front of the car.
9. insert funnel into the transmission dipstick tube.
10. start the car
11. begin pouring new fluid into the funnell. The old brown stuff will be forced out of the hose into the drain pan. Continue until nice clean red fluid appears. ( You should have an assistant move the gear selector through the gears while you are doing this as that ensures new fluid circulates through the valve body and lines.
12. shut off engine.
13. Reassemble the hose, clip, wiring harness, cold air duct in reverse order.
14. Start car and fill transmission to proper level per the dipstick.
15. optional step..wipe off all the spilled ATF when the funnell unexpectedly pops out of the filler tube.
