I have been reading some of the archive posts regarding the fuel door switch not working. Mine went inop the other day along with the trunk switch. The door lock (rocker) switches only unlock the doors. Key in the Drivers door does Nothing!
Key fob works to lock & unlock all doors, also works to unlock the trunk. I manually open the fuel door from the trunk.
I took the driver's door panel off but could not get to the key cylinder without removing the mechanism.
current symptoms:
The door lock switch on the door (rocker switch, not button) will unlock all doors but not lock them. This is true for Driver & passenger doors, can be intermittently not working as well.
Driver's door switches for trunk & fuel door Don't work at all
Key turns in Drivers door with absolutely no effect!
Is the key tumbler to door mechanism a mechanical linkage? Or is it an electrical contact? The trunk lock appears to be both a mechanical linkage & I can hear the actuator function with the key.
Key fob works to lock & unlock doors & trunk. Key in trunk lock works fine.
So I think I am looking at a new Central Locking Control Unit, maybe a new relay, or a new Driver's door lock assembly.
Where is the relay on a 98 S70 GLT? Where is the Central Locking Unit?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks
Mike
