I have had my door lock switches replaced at least once. The rocker style switch is a 2 position momentary on/off type and mine sticks on the lock position. This must ground out the relay and it just so happens that the gas tank door is on the same circuit..Meaning the gas door wont open. There is no manual way of opening the tank door shy of tearing away the interior panels. Anyway this latest new switch is sticking right after replacement. Nothing sticky is allowed in the car. Could it be a problem with to tight of a fit around the switch.. This is not a big problem now that I know that if the gas door wont open I have to center the switch. The first time this happened was on my wife at night 20 miles from home tank close to empty with 2 kids in the carseats..Volvo was going to send a towtruck after realizing that they could not talk my wife through the panel removal procedure.. She told them to send a Tech. and they did. It was only 20-30 min from the dealer and about 5 or 6 pm.
Pretty good service after she put her foot down.
PS. tell the spouses to check the switch positions if they cant open the fuel door.. Hate to be stranded in hickville with a volvo that cant take on gas... hehhe
