Oil Separator??? S70

Hello,

This must be my day for questions. I am familiar with all my vehicles except the Volvo's. I don't know why, but they are like aliens to me.

I was reading some of the old post on the Brickboard, and apparently the S70's (along with other models) have an oil separator. What the devil is an oil separator, what does it do, where is it located, and what maintenance does it require? Is it part of the PVC system, or is it related to the turbo?

Like I said, I am really unfamiliar with these cars. Any advice or guidance in this area would be greatly appreciated.
