Unintended acceleration MY2000 S40 S40-V40 2000

toyota doesn't have the exclusive on this problem.

Scenario...

Leave line at green light
slightly heavy acceleration
get to 35 MPH
Feels like Resume button pushed on Cruise (cruise is off though)
take foot off gas to touch brake assuming it will release cruise. Nothing.
Car takes off s l o w ly building in speed with foot off gas
Tried pulling up on gas pedal but it wasn't stuck. Mats OK
Push on brake pedal HARD to control car. (PS these brakes are great) I was in middle of traffic and looking for parking lot.
Throw trans in Neutral and tach immediately rises to 6000 RPM then slowly returns to 700 RPM. Rev limiter must have kicked in.
Put trans back in Drive and engine takes off again requiring to throw into Neutral again.
Stopped engine via key
Tried restarting to no avail. Engine cranks, smell raw gas. But nothing starts.
Looked under hood but linkage was fine, no obstructions, kinks, free and loose.

Remember that this MY2000 still used linkage, not that electronic throttle module.

So, brought to dealer since it died less than few blocks from original dealer and it turned out to be the ECT (engine coolant temperature sensor) P0128 code was thrown couple days earlier but car drove at least 2 days before this scenario happened.

If your CEL tells you that P0128 "Temperature sensor not up to temperature in time" FIX IT IMMEDIATELY it just may be a bad sensor that causes this problem.
